Insulating with Loose-Fill Cellulose & Fiberglass
Also called blown-in insulation, loose-fill insulation is installed with a blowing device and is filled into wall cavities and other areas. Cellulose insulation, like fiberglass, is available in loose-fill form.
Loose-fill insulation can help:
- Reduce your utility bills and maximize the energy efficiency of your home
- Make your home more comfortable year round
- Reduce noises from outside and also from inside your home between different rooms and levels
- Improve the performance of your air conditioner and furnace
- Contribute to a healthier environment
No matter what your insulation project entails, the professionals at MIG can help and have the expertise and experience to help ensure a successful project from start to finish.
Loose-Fill Insulation R-Value
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the recommended specifications for R-value/inch for loose-fill cellulose is 3.2 – 3.8 (10 – 12 inches needed for R-38), 2.2 – 2.7 for blown-in fiberglass (14 – 17 inches needed for R-38). Professional installers, such as the ones here at MIG, should install insulation to achieve the correct density and R-values (we never recommend DIY installations).
